The number of cats poisoning on this island because there's too many kittens & puppies. They don't neuter often enough.
My family was on holiday in Kolymbari last summer. On the hotel there were several sick cats. No one cared about the cats just the tourists. The staff at the hotel didn't care about the cats! The worst i have ever seen. I will never go back to Greece!
For years, myself and my wonderful neighbours and friends on Naxos, have been feeding, sterilizing and taking care of stray cats...mostly with our own funds.
When I was in holiday in Kos this year it broke my heart to see all the stray cats and kittens, many that needed veterinary treatment . The only way forward is to neuter as many as possible.
Seen so many starving stray cats in Greece it breaks my heart so something concrete needs to be done to change the situation for all stray animals in Greece.
I’m living on Milos Island and we have a huge problem of stray cats not been neutered and looked after with some serious health issues. This is an ongoing problem. We are trying to form an animal society but this not happening quickly because of lack of funding.
I’m English and live in Greece. I feel very passionately about the poor souls who live on the streets. I do what I can but it’s never enough 😢
Both my pets were adopted off the street. Plus an abused rescue dog who lived at least his last years in peace.
I see it on a daily basis, there are hungry dogs and cats on every corner, in every neighbourhood. There aren't enough people who care and it's soul destroying for those who do. It's far worse than people imagine.
I have visited Greece many times but the upsetting things I have seen involving animals have put me off this beautiful country.
This seem like a great way to help animals in Greece!
The Greek tourist industry makes so much money from merchandise involving images of Greek cats. Maybe it's time to give something back.
Hi! I am Greek, I live in Athens and lived abroad for many years in the past. It's such a shame what happens here in Greece with stray cats and dogs. I would love to help any way I can. Congrats on the initiative!
We need the same project un Serbia.
Showing love to animals is just humanity. A wise man once said: "THE way we treat animals, the same way we tret humans."
I believe these should not be any stray animals! We have to protect animals and ensure their safety!
If we could change something in our pets life let's do it.
All animal lives matter! They love, and feel and deserve to have a happy and fulfilled life!
We support this initiative! We don't have the time or in-house skills to create social media campaigns, run ads and drive awareness and donations from big companies. We are happy that a team has formed to help us! Small non-profits, especially in Greece, stand no chance without your support. If you come on vacation here, if you love our beaches, please love our animals too! We appreciate any support! Register to the newsletter and donate if you can!

As the world continues to grapple with environmental challenges, one of the most heartbreaking consequences is the outbreak of wildfires in various regions.
As the sun beats down relentlessly on the beautiful island of Kos, Greece, it brings with it a challenging reality for our feline friends. With access to fresh water becoming increasingly scarce, cats on the island are left with no choice but to quench their thirst from the only available sources – swimming pools and other standing water.
